COMMANDING GENERALPHILIPPINE ARMY
Fort Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila

M e s s a g e
Warmest greetings from the Philippine Army!
On the 18th year of the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM), the armies of the Southeast Asian nations gather once again to engage one another in a friendly military exercise that has become a revered tradition in the ASEAN neighborhood.
The Philippine Army, as host for this year’s AARM, vows to pursue the ideals and objectives of the tournament, which is to further strengthen the unity and spirit of camaraderie among our armies and uphold the noble aim of regional cooperation and goodwill in the ASEAN community.
Like our other ASEAN army counterparts in this friendly competition, we are eager to showcase once again the marksmanship skills of our soldiers and share in the experience of this noble endeavor.
Thus, I personally extend my best wishes and great appreciation for the active involvement of the participating armies, which perpetuates this fine tradition of the AARM. Let us, thus, remain true to the building spirit that continues to hold us closer toward the pursuit of the greater goal of enduring peace and security in Southeast Asia.
We look forward to a successful conduct of the AARM ’08!
The best of luck to all the participants!
Mabuhay!
VICTOR S IBRADO
