UNIT HISTORY

The 8th Forward Service Support Unit, ASCOM, PA today is the former 2nd Forward Support Point, activated and situated at Palo, Leyte on 01 July 1979. The unit was placed under the direction, control and supervision of VII Military Support Point, AFPLC stationed at Cebu City. On 01 June 1981, it was deactivated and after one (1) year reactivated again pursuant to GO Nr 12, HAFPLC dated 01 June 1982. It was upgraded to Military Support Point 8, AFPLC on 01 July 1983. Its early transformation began on 12 February 1992 when the VIII MSP, AFPLC was absorbed by the Philippine Army pursuant to GO Nr 120, Sec I HPA dated 18 February 1992. The unit was renamed from Military Support Point 8 to 8th Forward Service Support Unit.
