LTC NICASIO A PADUA JR CE (GSC) PA, the new Commanding Officer of 514th Engineer “Ang Gumagawa” Construction Battalion is a licensed Mechanical Engineer and also a graduate of BS in Electrical Engineering. He entered the military service on 01 August 1982 as a Probationary Second Lieutenant taking up the Probationary Officer Training Course, Called to Active Duty and subsequently became a Student Officer of the Philippine Army Officer Junior Course on 12 November 1985.

As a newly commissioned officer of the Philippine Army, he was assigned at 52nd Engineer Brigade and became the Platoon Leader of 508EMCO, ESBn, 52EBde, PA. His next assignment included, among others being the Coy Cmdr of EEMCO, 542ECB, 52EBde, PA, S7/S6 (Budget & Fiscal Officer) of 525EBN (S), PA, S4 ASCOM of OCS, TRADOC, PA, then became the Commanding Officer of HHSBN, TRADOC, PA from 16 Nov 06 – 31 Jan 08.

After his graduation from AFPCGSC Cl 52-09, he was reassigned at the 51st Engineer Brigade and was designated as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1 and then Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations. On 15 March 2010, he assumed the position of Acting Commanding Officer of this battalion in a simple ceremony at the Brigade Officers’ Clubhouse, 51EBde, PA.

LTC PADUA is a recipient of various awards; the most notable includes the Presidential Unit Citation, People Power Ribbon, numerous Military Commendation Medals, Military Merit Medals, the CS Trophy for Sem Right of Line and Deputy CS for Educ & Trng, J8 Trophy for Acad. A son of a former enlisted personnel, LTC PADUA grew up in Patag, Cagayan de Oro City, he firmly believes that a disciplined soldier is the best soldier.

The enlisted men are the nucleus of a unit, they must be trained to be efficient in their job. He is married to Dr Elvira M Padua and they are blessed with four (4) children, Fritz Ryan, Mark Anthony, Krizia Joy and Rose Bernadette.
