UNIT HISTORY
565ECB, the youngest Battalion of the 51st Engineer Brigade, PA to date was organized and activated pursuant to General Orders Nr 17 Hqs 51EBde, PA dated May 1985 with Alpha Company of 522ECB and Golf Company of 514 ECB as its nucleus. The Engineer Construction Support Company (ECSCO) of 51st Engineer Brigade, was initially OPCON to the battalion. However, on 08 April 1985, ECSCO was unfilled and all its personnel and equipment were assigned to the Battalion.
From the start, the 565ECB was engaged in some of the given projects of the 51st EBde beginning with the AFP Housing (Off-Base) Project in Brgy Ampid, San Mateo, Rizal. After the EDSA revolution, the battalion under the Command of LTC ADOLFO R DEL PRADO CE (GSC) PA was tasked to undertake military projects so that in the later part of April 1986, the unit was transferred to Fort Bonifacio. Among the significant military projects undertaken by the unit were; Repair and Rehabilitation of MSSCO office building and barracks at FBMM, renovation of the Army Operation Center (AOC) briefing and debriefing room at FBMM, Construction of PALAR warehouse at FBMM, construction of 2ID, PA hospital extension in Tanay, Rizal and site development of the DND Broadcast City at CGEA, Quezon City.
In the later part of 1986, a major challenge was thrust on to the 51EBde, PA by no less than the Commander-In-Chief Her Excellency Pres CORAZON C AQUINO directing the Brigade thru the AFP Chief of Staff to undertake the multi-million peso 39 kms Lopez-Catanauan road. The 565ECB in turn undertook the said project on 09 December 1986, the entire Battalion moved to the project in Brgy silang, Lopez, Quezon. The unit remained committed to the construction/improvement of Lopez-Catanauan road project up to the mid part of CY 1988.
In the later part of 1988, the unit under its Commander, COL NICETAS C PARENA CE (GSC) PA with the assistance of 522ECB undertook the construction/improvement of the access road of 203rd Inf Bde, PA Base project in Calauag, Quezon which was completed on 26 September 1989. As the unit was nearing the completion of the road project in Bondoc Peninsula, more resources became available enabling the unit to undertake simultaneously other projects in the area where the Bravo Construction Company was dispatched in San Juan, Batangas to assume the tasked of pursuing various projects in said town.
