565th ECB Welcomes the Commander of the Premier Engineer Brigade of Phil. Army
COL NICASIO A PADUA JR CE (GSC) PA

Camp Martillana, Pili, Camarines Sur-COLONEL SILVINO A ALCABASA JR CE (MNSA) PA, 17th Commander of the 51st Engr Bde, Phil. Army received a warm welcome through an arrival honour from COL NICASIO A PADUA JR CE (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 565th Engineer Construction Battalion and his personnel during his visit at the Home of the “BICOLBUILDERS” at Camp Weene Martillana, Pili, Camarines Sur who came together with his loving wife Mrs Belinda C Alcabasa.

As the new Commander of the 51st EBDE and his first visit at HQS 565th Engr Constn Bn. Colonel PADUA introduced his Staff Officers and key NCOs. He was also toured around the Bn facilities and around Camp Martillana to have a bird’s eye view about the Camp. Since COL PADUA is in-charge as camp administrator, he showed some improvements and informed the Bde Commander of some project proposals to be developed to enhanced Camp Martillana even more.


One of the highlights of the Comdr’s visit was the Blessing of the Grotto of the Blessed Mother in front of 565th ECB HQS that was totally renovated, landscaped and beautified along with the newly repaired Multi-Purpose Hall that has been widened and made more presentable for visitors as the “Engineer’s Nook” officiated by 9ID Chaplain MAJ PABLO GUZMAN (CHS) PA.


The commander’s visit coincided with the Ceremonial Turn-Over and Inauguration of the 10-Door Apartment Bldg #1 Project constructed by the 565th ECBn at HQS 9th Infantry (SPEAR) Division, Phil. Army, Camp Elias Angeles, San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur. It was formally turned over on that same day by COLONEL ALCABASA assisted by COL PADUA to MGEN RUPERTO PABUSTAN AFP, 9th ID Commander. The Commanding General, Philippine Army LTGEN ARTURO B ORTIZ AFP also came as the guest of honour.

During the Bde Comdr’s TALK to MEN at Camp Martillana, Colonel Alcabasa congratulated BicolBuilders for a job well done for the immediate completion of the 10-Door Apartment Bldg #1 which was also greatly appreciated by LTGEN ARTURO B ORTIZ AFP, CG, PA. He also encouraged every soldier to enhance his engineer and combat skills through in-service trainings and step by step improvement on his physical and mental conditioning during our lull periods to continuously prepare himself to be the most effective disaster/calamity relief response soldier of the AFP, and someday to be the finest Army Engineers in terms of countryside development and nation building.

After his inspirational message, the pinning of rank to nine newly promoted enlisted personnel and gift giving for birthday celebrators of the months of February –March, followed. The officers and men, in return presented the brigade commander and his wife a memento as a symbol for the 565ECB;s utmost gratitude.


After the traditional commanders welcome as a Military Officer. The officers and men once again honored COL ALCABASA and his loving wife with a formal dinner together with the men of the Bicol Builders on their 1st Quarterly Socials that evening.


The celebration was an extraordinary night for the personnel of 565th ECB, having joined by the commander and his wife as guest, the troops and their company commanders performed and presented their entertainment skills on dancing and singing that doubled the fun of the occasion and made the commander stay and enjoyed the night until the wee hours of the morning. Enjoying together and sharing moments with the men & ladies of the BICOLBUILDERS.
