COLONEL SILVINO A ALCABASA JR CE (MNSA) PA


COLONEL SILVINO ANG ALCABASA JR 0-8427 CE (MNSA) PA is the 17th Brigade Commander of the 51st Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army. He assumed command of the premier Engineer Brigade on 24 February 2011. Prior to his assumption, he was the Deputy of the Office of the Chief Engineer, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

COL ALCABASA JR was born in Biňan, Laguna on 26 June 1959. He is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “ Sandigan” class of 1982.

He started his colorful military career with the 52nd Engineer Brigade as Company Commander of Charlie Company, 545ECB. From then on he held several designations at The Engineer School, Training Command, Philippine Army from 1991 to 1995. At a later time, he became the Chief, Architectural and Engineering Branch, Office of the Army Chief of the Engineers, Chief, Base Development Division, OJ4 at General Headquarters, Chief Engineering Branch, G4, PA and subsequently became the Executive Officer of G4, PA.

COL ALCABASA underwent several military schoolings and trainings starting with the Scout Ranger Course in 1982. This continued with the following training programs: Basic Airborne Course; Engineer Officer Basic Course at Philippine Army Training Command where he ranked number 5; Engineer Officer Advance Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, USA where he ranked number 6; Method Study Analysis Course at Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army; Project Management Course and Integrated Logistics Support Course in Australia in 1997 and 1999, respectively; Command and General Staff Course at Command and General Staff College, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army and Masters in National Security Administration at National Defense College of the Philippines.

He finished his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City on 02 Apr 1989 and passed the licensure examination for Civil Engineers.

With his 32 years in the military service, Armed Forces of the Philippines, he earned various awards and decorations which include: CG,PA award; Anti-Dissidence Campaign Medal and Ribbon; Luzon and Visayas Anti-Dissidence Campaign Medals and Ribbons; Mindanao-Sulu Campaign Medal; Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Operation Ribbon; Combat Commander “ Kagitingan” Badge; Martial Law Citation Badge; PRPU Citation Badge; Military Merit Medal; Military Commendation Medal; Military Civic Action Medal; Outstanding Instructor Award; Instructor Badge; Long Service Medal; Outstanding Achievement Medal, and “Gawad sa Kaunlaran”. He also received a Certificate of Academic Excellence from MGEN JOE BALLARD, USA, CG, USAE, a Certificate of Achievement from SATFA, USA, TRADOC and Distinguished Graduate from COL WAYNE M BARTH, US ARMY, Chief JUSMAG, and a recipient of numerous Letters of Commendation.

He is happily married to former Ms Benilda Chua and their union is blessed with a son and a daughter, Alan Jason 23 and Alene Joy 13.
