THE “IRONMEN” ACHIEVEMENT
The first months in the year of the mechanic-soldiers have marked as the “peak season” in the name of MEEE and MEOE maintenance. These were when series of vehicle/equipment servicing is piled up in the schedule and bring it back to become new and working again.
During the first quarter of 2008, the EEMCo has preserved the serviceability and good appearance of seven (7) organic equipment and vehicles of the battalion (M35 Truck , Tamaraw FX, 2.27 Ton Hanix Crawler, two (2) JI Case Scoop Loaders, Sakai Mini Roller, and the Yanmar Mini-Backhoe) as mandated and initiated by the Battalion Commander of EMSBn, 51EBde, PA, LTC LYNDON J SOLLESTA GSC (CE) PA.. This quarter has summed up as the largest number of equipment preserved in the 1st quarter history of the EMSBn. Indeed, this unit has worked out to make the Hanix 2.27 Ton Crawler to be born again after three (3) years being declared as a “deadline” equipment. With the best tandem of the repair and repaint team, the mission was accomplished at no time with less expenses and a terrific exercise of expediency.
More so with these achievements, this unit has also designated a hands-on training team to fill up the demands of work. Personnel have learned to be dynamic in details and exerted much games on resourcefulness and initiatives. Welding works have become more in demand and so well with the painting works. It encourages multi tasking to personnel due to lack of working force and, indeed, strengthens the operability of this unit as the maintenance company, the “backbone” not only of the Engineer Maintenance and Support Battalion, but of the 51st Engineer Brigade as well
