EMS Team has a new Acting Sergeant Major

img01 December 2009, - 2LT JIMMY TRINIDAD (CE) PA (retired), has set his course for his new career in the civilian world. He was replaced by the next “abled” and highest ranking enlisted personnel of the battalion, MSG Harry D Cabasal (CE) PA. The Turnover Ceremony was presided by the Battalion Commander, LTC ARNOLD F FERNANDEZ CE (GSC) PA, held at the EMSBn Headquarters, Camp General Rigoberto J Atienza, Libis, Quezon City. It was also the date when the Brigade Sergeant Major was relieved by the present Bde SM, MSG Ronald Jamandron (CE) PA.


imgMSG Cabasal, a native from Cagayan Valley, was chosen to be the acting Battalion Sergeant Major in due with his utmost worth of leadership in line with his performance as the NCOIC of the Battalion Operations. With his academic and physical accomplishments, said enlisted man has manifested his capability to handle the position of key responsibility as the direct link to the Battalion Commander.

imgThe unit, under the leadership of MSG Trinidad as the outgoing Battalion Sergeant Major (August 2007 – December 2009), has sailed a powerful breakthrough when it garnered its highest pride as the Best Battalion of the year 2009 – first time in the history of EMSBn after 20 years in the making.

A Battalion Sergeant Major’s position is a key role for a unit’s morale and welfare. He serves as the coxswain among the rest of the troops as the unit leads rigorous streams of challenge. It is he who sets the level of camaraderie. It is he who briskly raises the flag of aggressiveness in times of morale depression. It is he who never shuns dependability and dynamism. It is he who leads an example to his subordinates.

As the new flag is raised, it reckons another challenge of leadership, responsibility and accomplishment. It’s another taste of enthusiasm, whether to prevail or to perk up a new spark of performance – a showcase to maintain and/or to aspire the highest standard of the unit as a team.
