51ST ENGINEER BRIGADE CONDUCT WIDESPREAD CLEANUP OF POSTED CAMPAIGN MATERIALS

Libis, Quezon City – The 51st Engineer Brigade, Philippine Army and the community of Barangay Libis, Quezon City had jointly accomplished an extensive cleanup of election campaign materials last May 14, 2010 along its streets, building and trees that litter the vicinity. Brigade Commander, BGEN Simoy, stressed out the immediate cleanup as those posters and campaign materials particularly hang in electrical lines maybe grounded during rainy season that can cause fire in the area.


The Army builders armed with pallets and ladder swooped down the surrounding area for extensive cleanup at 7 am until 12 noon of the day and as the barangay (village) officials joined the clearing up operations to speed up the removal of election materials. A six by six truck was also disposed from the Engineer Maintenance Battalion to haul the seized campaign materials.

The operation cleanup was the immediate call from the Commanding General, Philippine Army to aid neighboring village in facilitating the removal of campaign posters/materials along thoroughfares, structures and buildings which cause and eyesore to the public.

Similarly, all lines units of this brigade were also tasked to carry out the operation cleanup for early removal of related eyesore election posters and materials in collaboration with the LGUs and LGAs in their AOR.
