imgThe Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army plays a non-traditional yet crucial role in national development in view of Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) campaign plan on nation-building. It supports development projects as initiated by national and local government. Hence, the Brigade Training Unit (BTU) as implementing arm of the Brigade staff for training and education plays an important role in developing its personnel to enhance their skill on construction works techniques.

imgPursuant to HPA Training Directive Nr 16 dated 02 March 2010, BTU was tasked to conduct the Engineer Combat Support Operation and Orientation Training (ECSOOT) along with the 94 enlisted personnel of 525th ECB at Headquarters BTU, 51st EBDE, PA at Camp Gen Rigoberto J Atienza, Libis, Quezon City. The training consists of seven (7) weeks period and was formally opened on 23 March 2010 with BGen Felizardo A Simoy, Brigade Commander as the Guest of Honor and Speaker (GOHAS).

imgThese 94 newly enlisted personnel were competently trained on different field of construction works. Among the skills and training that they acquired are the basic masonry and carpentry works, building electrician, installation of sewerage and water pipe lines and painting works. In addition, the students were also trained on basic drafting as primary skill requirements being assigned in the engineer unit.

To further improve on their skills, the ECSOOT was on-the- job training (OJT)at the newly established headquarters of 514th ECB at sitio Palico, Barangay Bilaran, Nasugbu, Batangas, where they contributed for the early successful completion of the unit camp facilities. The amenities was then inaugurated on the 10th day of June 2010 simultaneously the graduation ceremony of the ECSOOT Class 02-10 with MGEN Josue S Gaversa, AFP, ASCOM Commander as the GOHAS.
