514ECB celebrates 48th Founding Anniversary at its new home…

img514ECB could have been the most travelled unit among the Corps of Engineer, establishing its command base throughout the islands of the country, from Mindanao, Visayas to Luzon.

The unit was organized on 16 May 1963 at Cagayan de Oro City. Six months after its organization, the battalion moved to Santa Barbara, Iloilo. Since then, it has moved from Menasag, Capalonga, Camarines Sur to San Gabriel, Carmona, Cavite to Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila. It was redeployed to Palawan, was given a short stint in Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz, relocated to Camp Upi, Gamu, Isabela then to Luna, Apayao.

When hostilities broke out in Central Mindanao, the battalion moved from Apayao to Matanog, Maguindanao . After which, the battalion moved to Sto Tomas, Davao del Norte and further reestablished its base at Camp Atienza, Libis, Quezon City on 16 September 2009.

imgOn 01 May 2010, the battalion established its command base at its present location at Palico Military Reservation, Nasugbu, Batangas. Thru the joint efforts of the men and women of the 51st Engineer Brigade. headed by the Brigade Commander and the support of then CG, PA with his four (4) ACEs which includes the Army’s Concern for Engineering, the battalion was given a very special gift days before its anniversary – a home of its own.

Notably, the 48th Founding Anniversary was celebrated with the newly assumed Commanding Officer of the unit, LTC NICASIO A PADUA JR CE (GSC) PA. Though the occasion was celebrated in a simple manner and in different locations by each company, it solidified the relationship of all members of the unit. The Headquarters & Headquarters Company and Charlie Company with the students of ECSOOT Cl 02-2010 started the day with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and a boodle fight for lunch, the Bravo Company at 2ID projects at Tanay while the Alpha Company had a “salo-salo” with the people at Brgy Lourdes, Lupi, Camarines Sur.
