Brigada Eskwela 2011

“Brigada Eskwela”, a program of the Department of Education wherein government schools are being prepared prior to the opening of classes, the 51st Engineer Brigade actively participated in the Brigada Eskwela of 2011. This year, two schools was the recipient of services from the Brigade. Prior to the program a, coordination was made with different schools within Metro Manila, namely the Barangka National High School, Libis Elementary School and the Sen Renato Cayetano Memorial Science High School.
A letter from Ms Emily G Santos Principal of Barangka National High School was requested by the Brigade requesting for assistance in the coming Brigada Eskwela. The coordination was made May 4 2011 by order of the Brigade Commander COL SILVINO A ALCABASA. A team was sent to Barangka led by LTCOL JUSTINIANO S ACHUMBRE Acting Chief of Staff for G7, to assess the schools needed services. Findings included perimeter fencing at the back of the Admin Building and illegal settlers are encroached in the area of the proposed perimeter fence project the requesting party is advised to settle first the property ownership.
After Barangka the team went to Libis Elementary School together with Mrs. Thelma Co, principal of the school, who identified the services needed by the school. One of these is the clearing of old cyclone fence and the construction of wooden fence at the student’s wash area which was repaired by Headquarters Company. Another team from the Engineer Maintenance and Support Battalion was sent to Sen Rene Cayetano Memorial Science High School at Taguig City this time a team from the Engineer Maintenance Support Battalion is sent with one Pay loader truck to haul construction debris beside the school the team consist of ten personnel and is divided into two program of works, four personnel undertook the hauling while the remaining was tasked to different kinds of works like painting of desks and chairs and application of anti termite solutions.
A simple opening program was conducted at the school which was attended by representative in the different government and private sectors. Students and parents joined in the activity that lasted a week together they lend a helping hand to the schools betterment and preparation for the incoming school year, the activity was conducted simultaneously all over Philippines even the brigade line units were also involved, schools within their area.
With its yearly program the Brigada Eskwela is truly beneficial not only for the school but for the teachers, students and parents, they say that a clean environment promotes a peaceful and clear mind.
