BGEN MARIANO REINOSO VELORIA hails from Alaminos, Pangasinan. He started his military career upon his graduation from the Philippine Military Academy as a member of the "Matapat" Class of 1979. He is a well rounded Engineer Officer, having occupied several command and staff positions in the Corps of Engineers. His first assignment as a military officer was with the 513ECB, 51EBde, PA as Assistant S3 and Adjutant & S1 and later became the Ex-O, Delta Company, 513ECB, 51EBde which was then undertaking the electrification project in Cagayan Valley. After his stint as Logistics Officer of TF Bahay, 51EBde, he rose to become the Company Commander of Hotel Company, 543ECB, 53EBde which was then stationed at Dao, Oras, Eastern Samar. He has also been the Battalion Commander of 545 ECB, 52nd EBde, PA where his unit actively participated in the “Balikatan 2002” in the rehabilitation of the Basilan circumferential road while implementing several other infrastructure projects in Basilan and the Zamboanga Peninsula; Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander, 52nd EBde; Executive Officer and Deputy Chief of Engineers for Plans and Operations, Office of the Chief Engineers, AFP; the Army Chief Engineers; and the Deputy Commander, 51st EBde, PA. He likewise held various staff positions in the field of Operations, Logistics, Comptrollership and Training among which were: Operations and Training Officer, Military Affairs Group, and the Plans and Program Staff Officer of Government Arsenal, DND; Chief, Ammunition Division, OJ9, GHQ; Commanding Officer, Procurement Center and Asst Chief of Logistics Staff for Comptrollership, L6 at the AFP Logistics Command; Asst Chief of Staff for Comptrollership, G6 and Asst Chief of Staff for Operations, G3 of the Presidential Security Group; and Executive Officer, OJ6, GHQ. Prior to his designation as the Commander of 53rd Engineer Brigade, he was the Chief of the AFP Real Estate Office, a position he held from 24 October 2008-29 March 2010. His military trainings include: Basic Ranger Course; the Logistics Management Development Course, Instructor Training Course, and the Supply and Service Management Officer Course at the US Army Quartermaster School, Fort Lee, Virginia where he graduated with honors; Ordnance Officer Advance Course and the Command and General Staff Course where he both graduated at the top of his class, and the Joint Professional Military Education Phase II at the Joint Forces Staff College, Norfolk,Virginia, among others. He finished his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines in Diliman as a scholar of the Society of American Military Engineers. He also earned his Master in Management at the Philippine Christian University and took the Strategic Business Economics Program at the University of Asia and the Pacific. In recognition of his outstanding performance and accomplishments in the various positions that he held, he was a recipient of various military and civilian awards and commendations which include the following: Two (2) Distinguished Service Stars; an Outstanding Achievement Medal; Two (2) Gawad sa Kaunlaran Medals; a Bronze Cross Medal; Twenty-six (26) Military Merit Medals and a Military Commendation Medal. It is worthy to note that he also received several Academic Proficiency Awards in the various military courses that he took both locally and abroad. He is happily married to the former Ms Navie Delos Reyes and they are blessed with four (4) daughters: Ma Josefa, Ma Christina, Ma Luzviminda, Ma Angela Isabel and two (2) sons, Michael Jomarie and Mariano Gabriel, four of whom are in the US Navy.
