MGEN ROMMEL A GOMEZ AFP assumed the position of Commander, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army on 17 November 2009. MGEN GOMEZ graduated from the Philippine Military Academy on 18 February 1978 and was subsequently commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Regular Force, Philippine Army.

A well trained officer, his professional military training here and abroad includes: Basic Ranger Course at Scout Ranger Training CTR, FSSR; Basic Airborne Course at Home Defence Forces Group in 1978; Special Forces Operation Course at Home Defence Forces Group in 1979; Infantry Officer Basic Course at SITS, ISAFP in 1982; Ranger Course at Fort Benning Georgia, USA in 1984; Pathfinder Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA in 1984; Instructor Training Course at Fort Gordon, Georgia, USA in 1985; Micro Computer and Programing Course at OG2, PA in 1988; Infantry Officer Advance Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA in 1990; Pre- Commander Course for Battalion Commanders at Training Command in 1995; Command and General Staff Course at Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army in 1998 and joint and combined Staff Officers Course at NDU, Norfolk, VA, USA in 2001.

On civilian schooling, he finished the academic requirements of Master in Management at Philippine Christian University on 02 April 2002.

Foremost of which are three (3) Distinguished Service Stars for eminently meritorious and valuable services rendered in positions of major responsibility.

MGEN GOMEZ was born on 17 September 1956 in Mountain Province. He is happily married to the former Ligaya Rojas.
