ARMY TROOPS SEIZED NPA ARMED CACHE
Camp Melchor F dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela - – Joint elements of 50th Infantry Battalion led by Lt Jimmy
Bahil and 31st CAFGU Active Auxiliary Company led by Cpl Examen seized NPA armed cache while conducting strike
operation at Brgy Barabac, Galimuyod, Ilocos Norte at 9:30 in the morning of 27 May, 2009.
In a report sent to Maj Gen Nestor Z Ochoa, Commander of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division , disclosed that
the discovery of the armed cache belonging to the communist terrorists was hidden inside a blue drum that
contain the following: 45 pcs CD’d tape; 4pcs manual for explosives; 5 pcs assorted books; 2 pcs maps of
Candon City, Ilocos Sur; 1 pc map of Bontoc Mountain Province; 12 binocular; 1 cassette tape; 1 pharmaceutical
directory; 1 holster for .45 pistol; 3 extension wires; 8 alloy magazines for M16 rifle, 555 rounds of
ammunition for M14 rifle; 13 pcs target materials; 315 rounds ammunition for Caliber .30 rifle and 752
rounds ammunition for M16 rifle.
Maj Gen Nestor Z Ochoa said that the successful discovery of the armed cache by the operating troops is the
result of timely and accurate information given by the civilian populace who condemned the violent and extortion
activities of the NPA rebels clandestinely operating in the area.
He further said that the seizure of the enemy’s armed cache pre-empted their terroristic plans against the
life and liberty of the populace who are living peacefully in a democratic society.
