ARMY TROOPS SLAIN 2 NPA REBELS, OVER RUN THEIR CAMP

Camp Melchor F dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela - Joint elements of 21st Infantry Battalion led by 2LT ENGELBERT P CALLAO and 51st Military Intelligence Company while on combat operation at Sitio Top-og, Barangay Ba-ay, Pinukpok, Kalinga, Apayao encountered undetermined number of communist terrorists that resulted to the killing of two (2) NPA rebels at 5:00 o’clock this morning, June 2, 2009.

A report sent to MAJ GEN NESTOR Z OCHOA, Commander of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division by LTC ANTONIO R LASTIMADO Commanding Officer, 21st Infantry Battalion disclosed that the two (2) slain NPA rebels were carried away and put the bodies on a sledge by their comrades as seen by the civilians in their route of withdrawal.

The report said that the communist terrorist group is under the leadership of RUDY DAGUITAN, AKA PINPIN of Samahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP3) and ANTONIO CAGYAWAN, AKA SENYAS of Larangang Yunit Gerilya, Kilusang Larangang Gerilya, BAGGAS who are on the current order of battle by the government authorities.

Discovered at the encounter site by the operating troops is an NPA camp with fifteen bunkers containing sacks of rice, personaI belongings and voluminous documents of high intelligence value.

There are slightly wounded on the government side identified as 2LT ENGELBERT CALLAO and Pfc Elvis Bautista who are immediately brought to 5ID Station Hospital for proper treatment.

MAJ GEN OCHOA further said that the successful conduct of internal security operations by the operating troops in the area is the result of timely and accurate information given by the barangay populace who were victims of the forced progressive taxation like supplying cavans of rice to the communist terrorists which the civilians are deprived of their daily food to eat.

The troops are conducting hot pursuit operations against the withdrawing enemy group.
