NPA REBEL SLAIN IN MT. PROVINCE ENCOUNTER
Camp Melchor F dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabel- A New People's Army (NPA)
rebel killed in an encounter with Army troops of 54th Infantry Battalion
led by 1LT JIGGER G VESANDE while conducting combat operations at
Balintaugan, Sagada, Mt. Provinve at about 8:40 in the morning of 2
April this year.
The report disclosed that the Army troops encountered more or less ten
(10) fully armed communist terrorists of Kilusang Larangang Guerilya-MARCO
under Communist Terrorists Leader LUPITO WIGIT, AKA DAWALA/TUMBAS.
Firefight ensued for almost two (2) hours after which the enemy withdrew
towards northeast direction carrying with them their casualties as seen
by villagers in their route of withdrawal.
Recovered at the encounter site by the operating troops were: One NPA
killed (body count) - identified, one bandoleer with two (2) magazines
for M16 rifle, four (4) backpacks with undisclosed contents and personal
belongings. There was slightly wounded in the government side that was
identified as Pfc Wilbert C Agabin.
Hot Pursuit operation is still on going to annihilate the other remnants
of the CT's group clandestinely operating in the area.
