This command started from a company-size unit, the Supply and Transportation Company in the 1960's which slowly evolved into a bigger unit known as the Supply, Transportation and Maintenance Battalion on 16 April 1971. On 16 December 1975, the Supply, Transportation and Maintenance Battalion was upgraded to Army Support Command due to the mounting security problems in Central and Southwestern Mindanao. The upgrading included the integration of all service support units, Army General Hospital and the Division Administrative Control Centers (DACC).
In February 1986, ASCOM was downsized to Service Support Brigade (SSBde) and on 23 May 1994, it was again upgraded to Service Support Command and eventually renamed as Army Support Command in 1997.
On 01 April 2005, ASCOM absorbed six units and facilities of the former AFP Logistics Command. All these developments were made in order to efficiently and effectively address the attainment of the command's mission. |
