OMBUDSMAN ACCREDITS PARAC

City, La Union. In line with mission of the 1st Regional Community
Dfense Group to assist the nation in socio-economic development,
COL CONSTANTE E PANTE MNSA (JSC) PA, Group Commander, has embarked
into a seemingly impossible mission to curb out corruptiohn in
his area of responsibility. He conceptualized the Philippine Army
reservists anti corruption unit (PARAC) in Region 1 as a test
in the expansion of the role of the reservists. As envisioned
bu him, the PARAC would serve as a watch-dog to the government
agencies in Region 1 which are perceived to be laden with graft
and corruption practices.
COL PANTE
initially organized the Officers and key NCOs of the 1st La Union
Ready Reserve Battalion as a nucleus of the PARAC with its office
at 01 Mahogany St., Sevilla Heights, San Fernando City, La Union.
In the
certificate of accreditation by the OMBUDSMAN which was dated
22 June 2004, it is stated that the PARAC is accredited as a corruption
prevention unit (CPU) of the office of the Deputy Ombudsman for
Luzon. The probation certificate is valid for a period of three
(3) months from the date of issuance unless extended a regular
accreditation guidelines of the office of the Ombudsman or at
the discretion of the Ombudsman and his deputies.
In order
that they could properly discharged their function as PARAC members,
the accredited reservists were given a five (5) day seminar at
Baguio City under the auspices of the Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon.
The PARAC
will start the pursuance of its mission as soon as it receives
green signal from higher headquarters.
