UNIT HISTORY OF  702nd (BOHOL)

COMMUNITY DEFENSE CENTER

 

            The 702ND (Bohol) Community Defense Center, 7th Regional Community  Defense  Group, Army Reserve Command  traced its root from the 112th Home Defense Center (formerly known as 112th Civic Action Center ) stationed then at Catarman, Northern Samar which was activated pursuant to Section 1,General Orders Number 03,  III Military Area, dated 03 August 1987.

 

            On 22 March 1971- It was relocated in Camp Lapulapu, Lahug,Cebu City and later on, sometimes in August 1987, it was re designated 107st Provincial Home Defense Center, 7th Regional Home Defense Unit, Army Reserve Command.

 

            Pursuant to General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines Letter Directive dated 19 April 1979, the unit was again relocated in the ten (10) hectare military reservation with old vintage barracks situated at Dao, Tagbilaran City.

 

            Sometimes in July 1992, it  was  renamed  and  redesignated  702nd (Bohol) Community Defense Center with its location  named as Camp Governor Esteban  Bernido through Board Resolution Number 394,series of 1990 in the province of Bohol dated 06 November 1990.

 

            At present, the ten (10) hectare military reservation was reduced to 2.7 hectares due to the presidential proclamation by which five (5) hectares were awarded to the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center (BAPC).
