UNIT HISTORY
OF 704TH (SIQUIJOR)
For many years, the local
government in
the island
province of Siquijor headed by then Governor Arthur M
Marchan known as the father of the land, after having felt the necessity
of trained reservists in their province, had requested for the activation of
Community Defense Center in the area thru MAJOR
DELFIN H FERNANDEZ Philippine Army, the former Commanding Officer of 703rd
Community Defense Center based in Negros Oriental. MAJ FERNANDEZ then endorsed
the needed supporting documents to higher headquarters for approval. It was
through such effort that the 704th (Siquijor) Community Defense
Center, 7th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command
became a unit pursuant to Headquarters Philippine Army General Orders Number 520
dated 3 October 2002.
The personnel and equipment of said unit were generated
from within the existing
resources of the Army Reserve Command with the primary mission –to be competent
trainor and citizen Army builder. In the pursuit of this mission, the unit
continued to
develop, organize, train, equip and administer a capable reserve force in
support of the Armed Forces Modernization Program
and socio-economic
development efforts in the area.
