Originally, 901st  (Zamboanga del Sur) Community Defense Center, 9th Regional Community Defense Group was FORMERLY 134th Home Defense Center, activated effective 01 February 1975 and located at SMC Main, Pagadian City pursuant to General Orders Number 461, General HeadQuarters, Armed Forcces of the Philippines dated 30 Jan 75 and further assigned to 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army pursuant to General Orders Nr 341 with ILT SAMUEL G AFDAL 0-5683 PA as the Commanding Officer. years later, Army Reserve Command (Provisional) was activated effective 01 September 1977. ON THE SAME DATE,  this Unit including personnel and equipment was placed under the supervision and control of ARESCOM (P) pursuant to General Orders Number 250 HEADQUARTERS, PHILIPPINE ARMY dated 01 September 1977. 

            IN the early part of 1979, 134th HOME DEFENSE CENTER was renamed 1092nd Provincial Home Defense Center AND WAS TRANSFERRED AT Barangay Upper Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur now Camp Major Cesar L Sang-an, Pulacan, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur . AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS, ARMY RESERVE COMMAND (PROVISIONAL) WAS DEACTIVATED. THE UNIT WAS ABSORBED TO 4TH INFANTRY (DIAMOND) DIVISION EFFECTIVE 31 MARCH 1986. ON 01 JULY 1986, THE UNIT WAS ABSORBED TO 1ST INFANTRY (TABAK) DIVISION, PHILIPPINE ARMY PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 144 HEADQUARTERS PHILIPPINE ARMY DATED 01 SEPTEMBER 1986.

            AFTER THE DOWNFALL OF MARTIAL LAW AS A RESULT OF FEBRUARY 1986 REVOLUTION, 1092ND PROVINCIAL HOME DEFENSE CENTER WAS DEACTIVATED. THE UNIT IS STILL UNDER THE SUPERVISION AND CONTROL OF 9TH REGIONAL COMMUNITY DEFENSE UNIT AND OPERATIONALLY CONTROL OF 1ST INFANTRY (TABAK) DIVISION, PHILIPPINE ARMY. 

            ON 01 JULY 1992,  RESERVE COMMAND, PHILIPPINE ARMY WAS ACTIVATED PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 388 HEADQUARTERS PHILIPPINE ARMY DATED 19 MAY 1992 AND ON 01 OCTOBER 1992,   9TH REGIONAL COMMUNITY DEFENSE UNIT AND ITS SUBORDINATE UNITS INCLUDING 1092ND PROVINCIAL HOME DEFENSE CENTER  WAS ABSORBED TO RESERVE COMMAND, PHILIPPINE ARMY PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 835 DATED 4 AUGUST 1992. FEW YEARS LATER, ON 01 MARCH 1994, 9TH REGIONAL COMMUNITY DEFENSE UNIT WAS RENAMED TO 9TH REGIONAL COMMUNITY DEFENSE GROUP PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 152 HEADQUARTERS PHILIPPINE ARMY DATED 23 FEBRUARY 1994. 

            ON 25 FEBRUARY 1993,  1092ND PROVINCIAL HOME DEFENSE CENTER WAS RENAMED 901ST (ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR) COMMUNITY DEFENSE CENTER  PURSUANT TO GENERAL ORDERS NUMBER 190,  HEADQUARTERS  PHILIPPINE ARMY DATED 25 FEBRUARY 1993 LOCATED AT KUTA DAO, PAGADIAN CITY.     AT PRESENT, THE UNIT IS HEADED  BY COL APOLINAR B APLACA JR INF (GSC) PA, OFFICER-IN-CHARGE.

  UNIT Seal Interpretation:

901 - represents unit designation as the 1st Community Defense Center of 9th Regional Community Defense Group.

CIRCLE  -  symbolize  the  unity  and  integrity  of  the  unit  and  to  their   counterpart,    the  local  government  in  the  area.

GREEN BACKGROUND  -   of  the  circle  representing  the  richness  of  the  province  in natural resources.

9RCDG  SEAL - in  the  center  representing  the  Headquarters  of  901 (ZDS)  Community  Defense  Center is under the direct supervision of  9th RCDG..

BLUE  -  represent  the  vision  of  the  unit  to  mobilize  the  Reserve  Force  to  be  utilized/assist  in  the  preservation  of  peace.

 WHITE  BACKGROUND -  denotes  that  purity  of  heart  of  all  personnel  assigned  with  this  unit  in  carrying  their  assigned  task  as  public  servant  towards  their  clientele.

TREES - depicts the rain forest products in the province.

COCUNUT  TREES - depicts  that  coconut  is  among  the  major  products  in  the  province. 

FISH -  depicts  the  abundance  of  aqua-marine  products  in  the  coastal  areas  in  the  province.  

LOGS -  representing  that  before  the  total  Log  Ban,  this  province  is  one  of  the  high  producers  of  this  products.

PEAK  MATOK  AND  SPADE -  symbolized  that  people  of  this  province  are  industrious  and  hardworking.
