Though the Multi-Role Force Battalion – Army Contingent for Emergency (ACE) acts as the primary unit of the Philippine Army in addressing Disaster Rescue and Relief Operation (DRRO) concerns, it is also capable of performing development and nation-building activities, and fighting threats to national development and stability, not just in Metro Manila but in other parts of the country as well.
Bracing for typhoon "Ramil" - The newly-activated Multi-Role Force Battalion, also known as the Army Continent for Emergency (ACE), displays its capabilities including several Army trucks, rubber boats, motorized boats, and other life-saving devices during its activation on October 17 at the Philippine Army Headquarters. The activation and mobilization of the Multi-Role Force Battalion is very timely since the country braces for another typhoon which is expected to hit the country this week.

The Philippine Army's K9 unit demonstrates how to detect Improvised Explosive Devices, locate missing persons, and retrieve cadavers of victims of calamities. The K9 Battalion is enhanced primarily to support the Army's Disaster Rescue and Relief Operations and its Anti-Terror campaign. Recently, it was responsible for the retrieval of five bodies following the landslide in Tadian, Mountain Province. The Philippine Army Commanding General LtGen Delfin N Bangit hands over the unit color as a symbol of command to LtC Loreto C Magundayao Jr, Acting Battalion Commander of the newly activated Civil Military Operations Battalion (CMOBn) of the Army's 5th Infantry Division at Camp Melchor dela Cruz, Gamu Isabela on June 30. Army Chief LtGen Bangit assures that the activation of the CMOBn will strengthen the partnership of the government and the people towards making insurgency irrelevant by 2010.
Army Chief LtGen Delfin N Bangit leads the presentation of rebel returnees and inspection of firearms and various war materiel recovered in the conduct of military operations against the NPA during his visit at the Army's 5th Infantry Division. The Philippine Army attributed these recent gains to the trainings and obedience inculcated among the soldiers.

Dennis Rodinas alias Dondon/Demz a high ranking NPA leader of Western Mindanao Regional Committee was captured by joint elements of Army's 55th IB and PNP's 10th Regional Mobile Group at Tangub City, Misamis Occidental on June 29. Alias Demz was identified by witnesses to have been personally involved in the brutal murder of CAFGU Ernesto Gumilid last June 15.
