5th Army Training Group

The 5th Army Training (Star) Group (5ATG) was activated pursuant to GO No. 533, HPA effective January 1, 1990 as an organic unit of 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army located at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz (Annex), Soyung, Echague, Isabela. The unit's personnel and equipment came from the 5th Infantry Division Table of Organization and Equipment (TOE) provided by the GHQ, AFP. It was reassigned and absorbed by the Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army on April 1, 1999 pursuant to GO No. 402, HPA dated March 22, 1999. Earlier, 5ATG was formally organized in its original location at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela with four officers and 11 enlisted personnel. It was transferred to its present site on June 15, 1990. This was in line with the administrative and training requirements needed in accomplishing its assigned mission given by the Headquarters. The 5ATG offers Infantry Non-Commissioned Officer Basic and Advance Courses to upgrade the capabilities of soldiers of the 5th Infantry Division and other units of the Philippine Army. However, on August 10, 2002, the unit was tasked to conduct Officer Candidate Training course composed of 15 Probationary 2nd Lieutenants from the Cordillera People's Liberation Army (CPLA). Today, the 5th Army Training (Star) Group continuously performs its mandate finding ways to deliver quality trainings needed by the military personnel.
