The Army Computer
Literacy Center (ACLC) was
purposely created to educate and
equip all military personnel and
civilian employees assigned at HPA
with the fundamental knowledge and
skills in computer operations,
Internet and E-mail usage, and
Microsoft Office productivity
software. Bulk of the Army Computer
Literacy Trainings (ACLT) being
conducted at ACLC is focused on
teaching the students MS Office
applications running under Windows
Operating System environment such as
MS Word for word processing, MS
Excel for spreadsheets, and MS
PowerPoint for presentations. The
implementation of ACLT is in
consonance with the command’s
directive to reduce the personnel
complement of HPA offices and post
units, thus driving the imperative
of having more computer literate
personnel.
AC of S for Personnel, G1 was
designated as the staff having
primary responsibility on creating
the Army Computer Literacy Center
early in the month of August 2006.
The Army Management Information
Center (AMIC) was subsequently
tasked as the Unit of Primary
Responsibility and Project
Administrator responsible for the
SOP on the operation and utilization
of the ACLC.
The ACLT is a two-week training
composed of 40 periods and is
conducted from 1700H to 2100H after
office hours. The first batch of
training opened last 23 August 2006
with a quota allocation of fourteen
(14) students. As of 07 September
2007, AMIC had already trained
fifteen classes of ACLT, producing
223 more computer literate personnel
composed of 33 officers, 172
enlisted personnel, and 18 civilian
employees from HPA. Currently,
records show that within the HPA
offices and post units, 96% of all
officers are computer literate, 88%
for enlisted personnel and 80% for
civilian employees.
The Army Computer Literacy Center is
open from 0800H to 1700H, Monday to
Friday to all PA military personnel,
especially those coming from the
field units, for work and
computer-learning related purposes.
