Doctrine writers from different PAMUs attended the Doctrine Development Writer and Proponent Training (DDWPT) Class 02-2017 last 29 August – 8 September 2017. It was held at the Tarlac State University (TSU), Villa Lucinda Campus, Tarlac City. The DDWPT is designed to enhance the skills of the doctrine proponents and writers so that they can fast track the development of their respective manuals.
Col Benjamin L Hao, Chief of Staff, TRADOC was the keynote speaker during the opening of the training. He emphasized to the students to write their doctrines in plain and simple English so that it can be readily understood by our soldiers in the field. He further stated that doctrine should avoid flowery words and be direct to the point.
The training included lectures from the faculty of Tarlac State University (TSU) such as basic technical writing, methods of research, writing effective research, and American Psychological Association (APA) referencing among others. Lectures on doctrine development system and manual formatting were also given by the personnel of Doctrine Center.
One of the outputs of the said training is the proponent advice (PAD) for the proponents who do not have PADs yet for their manuals. For those who have already submitted their PADs, the participants were required to write the chapter 1 of their manuals. The outputs were presented to the panel led by Dr Maria June Carlos and Col Alvin Flores, the director of Doctrine Center, TRADOC. After which, the closing ceremony was graced by the TRADOC Deputy Commander, Col Filemon D Mamaril. He congratulated the students and the training directorate for the successful conduct of the training and motivated the students to be patient and persistent in writing their manuals.
The training which was supported by OG8, PA was made possible thru the partnership of Doctrine Center, TRADOC and the College of Public Administration and Governance (CPAG), TSU which provided excellent lecturers. Indeed, the training was a success. Another batch of the Doctrine Developement Writer and Proponent Training will be conducted this October 2017 at TSU Hotel, Tarlac City.
