SERGEANT MAJOR, PHILIPPINE ARMY

asmnewChief Master Sergeant Aladin S Dacayanan 761162 (Military Intelligence) Philippine Army was born on 10 February 1966 in Camiling, Tarlac. He is the eldest among the seven children of Mr Melecio C Dacayanan of Camiling Tarlac, and Mrs Brigida E Santos of Bayambang, Pangasinan.  He completed his Primary and Secondary Education at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Tarlac in 1983.  He attended Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering at Saint Louise University, Baguio City from 1983 to 1986.  He completed Bachelor of Science in Criminology at Saint Ferdinand College, Isabela in 2015.

            On 30 April 1988, CMS Dacayanan PA was enlisted into the Regular Force, Armed Forces of the Philippines.  His first assignment was with 72nd Infantry Battalion (72nd IB), 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.  During his tour-of-duty with 72nd IB, he performed the following duties: Rifleman, Radioman, Squad Leader, Company Assistant Operation Sergeant, and Battalion Operation Sergeant, among others.  While with 72nd IB, he took the following Trainings/Courses: Scout Ranger Orientation Course; Special Operations Training; and Special Forces Operations Course where he was Compass Man and Operation Sergeant of his Team.  He participated in several Combat Operations in Northern, Southern, and Eastern Luzon.

            In 1992, CMS Dacayanan PA was reassigned with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Counterintelligence Group (AFPCIG).  During his Tour-of-Duty with AFPCIG, he was designated to various administrative and operational positions.  While with AFPCIG, he completed Counterintelligence Course, Micro-Computer Package Course, and other counterintelligence-related trainings and seminars. He participated in several counterintelligence operations.  In 1994, he represented AFPCIG as member of the AFP Contingent to United Nations Command, Soul Korea.

            In 1995, CMS Dacayanan PA was reassigned with the Intelligence Service, AFP (ISAFP).  During his Tour-of-Duty with ISAFP, he was designated to various administrative and operational positions.  Significant among his designations include: Team Leader of Special Operations Team; VIP Protective Agent; Branch NCO of Production and Counterintelligence Branch of ISAFP; MIG and Task Force Operation Sergeant; Administrative Assistant to the Office of the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché, Philippine Embassy, Beijing, Peoples Republic of China; MIG Sergeant Major of MIG19 and MIG22; Force Sergeant Major of Foreign Intelligence Force of ISAFP; and Command Sergeant Major of ISAFP.  While with ISAFP, he completed following courses/Trainings: Basic and Advance Career Courses in Intelligence; Enlisted Personnel Intelligence Course; VIP Protective Operations Course (US); Enlisted Personnel Administrative Assistant Course; Intelligence Research and Analysis Course (US and Australia); Basic and Advance Scuba Training; AFP Joint Sergeant Major Course; and other intelligence-related trainings and seminars.  He participated in several intelligence operations nation-wide.

            As a result of his hard work, CMS Dacayanan PA is a recipient of numerous awards and decorations, including: Gold Cross Medal, Gawad sa Kaunlaran Medal, Military Merit Medal with Spearhead Devise, Military Merit Medals, Military Commendation Medals, Luzon Campaign Medal, Anti-Dissident Campaign Medal, Military Civic Action Medal, Sagisag ng Ulirang Kawal Medals, AFP Conduct Medal, Long Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, US Army Achievement Medal, Letters of Commendation, and Certificates of Recognition and Appreciation.

He is also a recipient of the several Badges, including: Presidential Unit Citation Badge, EDSA 2 Revolution Badge, Special Forces Badge, Sergeant Major badge, and the EP Administrative Assistant Badge.

In 2014, CMS Dacayanan PA was one of the Metrobank Foundation “The Outstanding Pilipino Soldiers” (TOPS) Awardees.

            CMS Dacayanan PA is married to Lovella Collo Padua of Sta Cruz, Laguna and they are blessed with four children and a granddaughter, they are: Rachelle Ashly, a Registered Nurse now working as Flight Attendant with Qatar Air; John Jefrey, a graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management now working as Hotel Staff; Darla Mae, a graduate of Architecture now working as a Flight Attendant with Emirates; Leandro Luis, a Grade 4 Student; and their Granddaughter Mayshle Daphne, a kindergarten student. 

COMMANDING GENERAL, PHILIPPINE ARMY

12 2 3copyLIEUTENANT GENERAL ROMEO S BRAWNER JUNIOR assumed leadership of the Philippine Army as the 65th Commanding General on 10 December 2021.

He entered the Philippine Military Academy in 1985 and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree, graduating number two (2) and a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989.

He consistently exemplified the highest levels of excellence in his military schoolings. He graduated at the top of his class in the Special Forces Operations Course, Intelligence Officer Course, and the AFP Comptrollership Course. Notably, in 2011, LTGEN BRAWNER was the representative of the Philippine Army during the United States Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on Foreign Policy. In 2013, LTGEN BRAWNER also represented the Philippine Army during the IVLP on Cyber Security.

He also demonstrated the finest ideals of military professionalism and discipline in his previous designations such as the Battalion Commander, 2nd Special Forces Battalion; Operations Officer, Special Forces Regiment (Airborne); Chief of Staff, 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division; Chief Public Affairs, Philippine Army; Spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; Regiment Commander, Civil-Military Operations Regiment; and the Brigade Commander, 103rd Infantry Brigade during the aftermath of the Marawi Siege. Likewise, LTGEN BRAWNER was the Commandant of the Cadet Corps in the Philippine Military Academy, wherein he institutionalized the total eradication of hazing and maltreatment during his term. Further, MGEN BRAWNER also served as the first Deputy Chief of Staff for Financial Management, J10, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Prior to his current designation, he was the Commander, 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division, wherein he supervised the operations that led to the neutralization of Jorge Madlos, Commander of the National Operations Command of the New People’s Army.

LTGEN BRAWNER has acquired three (3) Master’s Degrees — Masters in Information Management from the Ateneo de Manila University; Masters in Business Administration from the Asian Institute of Management and from the European School of Management in Oxford University, United Kingdom; and Masters in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. He also attended the Advance Security Cooperation Course at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He was among those awarded in The Top Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) in 2013 by the Metrobank Foundation and Rotary Club of Makati. In 2019, LTGEN BRAWNER was bestowed with the Lapu-Lapu Award by President Rodrigo Duterte for his invaluable contributions and dedicated leadership in the neutralization of Owayda Marohombsar, the last commander of the Maute-ISIS faction.

He was born on 18 March 1968 in Baguio City. He is happily married to the former Miss Melody Valeros and they are blessed with three children.

MGEN ROBERTO S CAPULONG PA is a proud graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990. His sterling years of service have built him to become the 55th Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army.

MGEN CAPULONG started his military career as a Platoon Leader and later as a Company Commander in the 27th Infantry Battalion, 6th Infantry Division. This stint and his designations to different command and staff positions in the said Division honed his potential as a military leader.His acumen in military operations was applied in training when he became the Group Commander of the 3ATG, TRADOC from 2007 to 2009.

As MGEN CAPULONG advanced though his military career, he was endowed with additional leadership opportunities in the 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division. He has excellently delivered his role as the Commanding Officer of the 19th Infantry Battalion in 2009, 52nd Infantry Battalion in 2010 and Division Training Unit in 2011. He was also the Division’s Assistant Chief of Staff for Education and Training, G8 in 2011 and the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3 in 2012.

In 2013, he went back to Mindanao and rendered staff duties at the Eastern Mindanao Command. He was the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Joint Training, U8 and later, he became the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff for Joint Operations, U3.

Prior to his current designation, MGEN CAPULONG has already served the Headquarters, Philippine Army with his outstanding and fastidious execution of staff and administrative functions as the Secretary Army General Staff in 2015; and Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans, G5 in 2016.

He earned his first star when he was designated as the Senior Military Assistant to DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana in 2018. The following year, he returned to the 6th Infantry Division to command the 602nd Infantry “Liberator” Brigade, 6th Infantry Division. Under his leadership, the “Liberator” Brigade pushed forward the government’s peace initiatives in conflict-affected communities in its area of operations. On 28 July 2021, he pledged his commitment to orchestrate and lead the HPA’s General, Technical, and Special Staff as the 55th Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army.

MGEN CAPULONG has undergone various military and civilian schoolings both local and foreign, to prepare himself for higher responsibilities. He completed his Master’s Degree in Public Administration in Notre Dame University. He also took Strategic Human Resource Management and Project Planning, Development, and Management Courses in the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Makati. As for his military schooling, he completed his Special Operations Team Training and Basic Airborne Course at the Special Forces School; Infantry Basic and Advance Courses at the Combat Arms School, TRADOC; Intelligence Officer Course at The Intelligence School, ISG, PA; the Combined Defense Intelligence Research & Analysis Course in Australia, the Command and General Staff Course at the Command and General Staff College, Royal Thai Army, Thailand, the Senior Executive Course on National Security at the National Defense College of the Philippines, and the High Defense Studies Course for Asia-Pacific Senior Officers at the Centre for National Defense Studies in Madrid, Spain.

His valuable services and accomplishments were recognized through his awards and decorations which include Distinguished Service Stars, Bronze Cross Medals, Military Merit Medals, Military Civic Action Medals, Military Commendation Medals, Distinguished Service Award, ribbons, badges,  plaques, and Letters of Commendation and Appreciation both from military and civilian sectors.

MGEN CAPULONG was born on 24 October 1968 and is happily married to Mrs Elizabeth Pagsibigan-Capulong. They are blessed with two sons, Roberto Gabriel and Robert Philip.
