Representative units of the six hundred fifty-two (652) CCSR firearms consist of Heavy Machine Gun, Light Machine Gun, Squad Automatic Weapon, Rifle Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, Sniper Rifles, M16 Rifle, Shotgun and Airgun were destroyed using a road roller vehicle to compress the weapons. The firearms were then cut into pieces using a metal bond circular saw.

Bautista, Air Force Chief Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard Kintanar, Jr., Navy Flag Officer in Command Vice Admiral Ronald Joseph Mercado and Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa graced the ceremony.

The destroyed firearms were recovered by the Armed Forces of the Philippines during the 5-month-long battle to free Marawi City from the Daesh-inspired Maute terrorist group.

The demilitarization of the CSSR enemy weapons aims to demonstrate the government’s resolve to fight and defeat terrorism in the country. The weapons were destroyed to ensure that these can be rendered ineffective for use as a component or a complete firearm.

On a later date, all the destroyed firearms will be burned. The metal residues and scrap will be properly kept for final disposal in accordance with the AFP policies and directives.
