Kaugnay Trains New Batch of CS

Two batches of Candidate Soldiers (CS) have started training at the Division Training School, 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army. Reception rites for CS Course Class 458-17 and 459-17 was held at the 7ID Grandstand on May 10, 2017

Lieutenant Colonel Jose Ambrocio F Rustia, the new Commandant of the Division Training School (DTS), 7ID, presented 228 CS, as Lieutenant Colonel Wilfredo B Manalang III, newly assumed Assistant Chief of Staff for Education and Training, G8, 7ID, declared the course open.

For civilians, a reception might mean food and camaraderie, but in the military, candidate soldiers go through reception rites to get an idea of what’s in store for them in their four months of training.

Physical endurance is tested as they stand under the heat of the sun, without moving or drinking, for more than an hour.  Then, as the ceremony begins and the short program is concluded, they run to prepared water stations and proceed to do the “army dozen exercise” comprised of log-rolls, push-ups, frog leaps and squat thrusts, to mention a few. If the CS endure and successfully finish the reception rites, they havepassed the final test that qualify them to train and become full-pledged soldiers.  If not, then several hopefuls aptly called “reserve CS” will eagerly take their place in the training. In his message to the trainees, Major General Angelito M De Leon, Commander, 7ID, PA, expressed his sincere hope that all of the 228-strong candidate soldiers will be able to finish their training course; emphasizing that the objective of the training is to instill in them strength and discipline befitting a soldier, and transform them into fighters that can defend the country. Ending on the reminder that as future soldiers, from thereon, they must always bear in mind that everything they do is for God, the Filipino people, and our country.
