3 NPA Killed in a Clashed with Government Troops in DRT, Bulacan

FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – Three New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in a clash with government troops in Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) in Bulacan at about 6 a.m. today. (August 9).

One section from 48th Infantry (Guardians) Battalion while conducting combat operations at Brgy Kabayunan, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan were fired upon by more or less 12 NPA armed with assorted high powered firearms led by unidentified communist terrorist leader.

The encounter was a result of reported information by the civilians in the area about the presence of armed men in their barangay. Immediately Lt. Col. Alexei C Musngi, Commander, 48IB organized one section to verify the veracity of the information and coordinated with the local PNP in Bulacan.

“The troops were fired upon by the armed group which triggered sporadic gunfire and skirmishes by government troops that resulted to the death of three New People’s Army (NPA) and the recovery of one M16 rifle. Troops are still in the area conducting pursuit operation to the remaining NPA members who scampered to different direction living behind their dead comrades.” Lt. Col. Musngi said.

Col Henry G Sabarre, Commander, 703rd Bde, was informed of the recent encounter and instructed the Battalion Commander to pursue the remaining members of the armed group believed to have incurred heavy casualty during the encounter as seen on the blood stains on their withdrawal route. Col Sabarre is now in the encounter site to assess the situation.

“Successive encounters against these communist terrorist groups was a result of timely and accurate information given by the civilians who are tired of their presence in the community. Recently, they suffered a major debacle during the encounter at Camiling, Tarlac wherein six high ranking members were killed (Ka Dado (Sqd Ldr, killed), Ka Irish (Political Guide, from UP, killed), Ka Daniel (S4 and Trainee Political Guide, killed), Ka Diego (Trainee, Asst Sqd Ldr, killed), Ka Johnny (M60 Gunner, killed),Ka Rustom (member, killed) and one wounded in the person of Jun Mendoza (Asst Sqd Ldr, captured) who is now undergoing medical treatment at V-Luna Hospital and the recovery of high powered firearms (One M60 machine gun, One M14, Two M653, One M653 with M203, Four M16, One Cal 45 pistol) subversive documents and personal belongings” Brig. Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri, 7ID, Commander said.

“Let me extend my congratulations for a job well done for a successful operation that resulted to the death of three NPA members. With your dedication to duty and country it is just proper to recognize your effort in preserving the peaceful environment in Bulacan province.” 7ID Commander added.

“This only shows that the people are tired of the illegal activities done by the NPA, the people are now the one giving vital information about their location. Our Bayanihan campaign is very effective and we will continue to conduct our peace and development effort in the far flung barangays in Bulacan,” the Commander ended.
