Army troops recover firearms in Negros Oriental; explosives in
Maguindanao
Three firearms were recovered by the Army troops at 8:30 a.m. on August
26 at Sitio Spur 9, Brgy Bagong Silang, DS Benedicto, Negros Oriental
without firefight.
The operation involved one section of 2nd Scout Ranger Company led by
SSg Mijares of the First Scout Ranger Battalion, Special Operations
Command, Philippine Army under Lt Col Antonio Nafarrete.
The items include an improvised M16 rifle with two long magazines, a
short magazine, 10 rounds of caliber 5.56mm ammunitions, an improvised
M14 rifle with a magazine, 14 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunitions and a
caliber .38 revolver (homemade).
In Maguindanao, several war materials were recovered by the Army troops
while on clearing operation in Brgy Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao
at 6 p.m. on August 26.
The operation involved operating troops of Bravo Company, 75th Infantry
Battalion under 1Lt Jumalon.
Troops recovered three plastic bag of gun powder, a plastic bag of live
ammunition nitrate, a tube of C4, four live ammunitions of
rocket-propelled grenade, three rifle grenades, six live ammunitions of
M203 and an alarm clock.
