Army extends condolences to families of 2 Army fatalities in
C-130 plane crash
FORT Bonifacio, Metro Manila - The Philippine Army has confirmed the
death of two of its personnel in the tragic crash of the C130 plane in
Davao golf last Monday, and is extending its deepest condolences to
their bereaved families.
The two Armymen, whose bodies were still not found as of press time,
were identified as Master Sergeant Remegio D Libres and Corporal Bernie
S Sabangan.
The 52-year-old First Sergeant of the 3rd ALDET, 3rd Infantry Division
hails from Del Mar, Mabini, Bohol. He finished his elementary education
at San Jose Elementary School and high school at Medina National Compre
High School prior entering the military service in 1976.
His first assignments include Rifleman, Supply Sergeant, Personnel Clerk
of Alpha Company, 45th IB, 5th ID; Admin NCO of 3rd ALDET, 3rd ID; and
most recent as the First Sergeant and Logistics NCO of same unit.
MSg Libres is a recipient of various awards and decorations to include
three Military Commendation Medals, two Military Merit Medals, Long
Service Medal and AFP Conduct Medal.
He is married to Lourdes with two daughters - Melou Joyce and Krissia
Anne.
Cpl Sabangan, on the other hand, is 33 years old who hails from
Bayambang, Pangasinan. He has taken up his elementary education at
Basista Central School and high school at Basista National High School
prior entering military service in 1998.
His first assignments include Rifleman at the Army's 6th Scout Ranger
Company (SR Co), 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion (SR Bn), First Scout Ranger
Regiment (FSRR), Special Operations Command (SOCOM); and Liaison
Sergeant at the 2nd SR Battalion, FSRR, SOCOM.
Cpl Sabanga is a recipient of several awards and decorations to include
11 Military Merit Medals; six Military Commendation Medals, and two AFP
Conduct Medals.
He is married to Greece.
The Philippine Army would like to extend its deepest condolences to the
bereaved families of MSg Libres and Cpl Sabangan for their untimely
death. Our deepest sympathy also goes to their families. We know that
during these difficult times, no amount of kind words can seem to lessen
the sorrow their families are experiencing.
