High-ranking NPA rebel nabbed in Aurora

A high-ranking New People's Army rebel was apprehended by the joint elements of the 81st Infantry Battalion and the Intelligence unit of the 7th Infantry Division in Aurora Province on September 2.

Reports reaching Headquarters Philippine Army from the field unit disclosed that a certain Delfin Pimentel @ Ka Medy/Liben, a communist terrorist leader, was apprehended together with his Imelda Dacer at Brgy. Umiray, Dingalan, Aurora.

Pimentel is the former Secretary of Aurora Provincial Committee (PCOM) and the concurrent Secretary of KLG Aurora under Aurora PCOM. He is also a member of the Regional Executive Committee of the Central Luzon Regional Committee. He is charged with murder under Criminal Case No. 2774 issued by Honorable Judge Corazon D Soluren of Regional Trial Court Branch 96 of Baler Aurora dated 28 February 2005; and multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder in Criminal Case No. 2603 issued by Honorable Judge Rebecca Mariano of RTC Branch 96 dated 23 February 2001.

Recovered from Pimentel are two M653 Baby Armalite. He is now under the custody of the Police Provincial Office of Aurora.
