One civilian killed in ambush
A civilian was killed when armed men believed to be MILF members under
unknown commander ambushed operatives of the 18th Infantry Battalion in
Zamboanga del Norte at 9:30 a.m. on January 26.
CAA Arnulfo A Saguin and CAA Rico L Alpudahan were on board their
motorcycle and travelling along Brgy. Sarawagan road going to Brgy. Raba,
Godod Zamboanga del Norte when they were ambushed by more or less 20
fully armed men. Camilo Lembaroc, 38 years old and a resident of Brgy.
Raba of same municipality, was also traversing the same road when the
incident happened.
Meanwhile, a dump truck of BENDIMIL Construction was partly burned by
unidentified armed men in Brgy. Puliran, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte at
9 a.m. on January 26. Extortion was believed to be the motive behind the
incident.
Troops from the 44th Infantry Battalion while on pursuit operations
against the culprits were fired upon by more or less seven fully armed
lawless elements under alias Boy Takas. In retaliation, the troops
returned fire towards Brgy. Lakiki of same municipality. #
