Continuous and intensive military clearing operations have resulted to
the Army troops' discovery of 18 New People's Army (NPA) camps in

start their lives anew.

Jastine B. Aguedo at 5 p.m. on January 10. It has 10 bunkers and was
abandoned three months ago.
In December 2008, Army troops were able to discover 18 NPA camps. The
biggest camp was found by a platoon led by 2Lt. Danilo B. Mutoc of 11th
IB, 3rd ID at Sitio Lupo, Brgy. Humay-humay, Guihulngan City, Negros
Oriental that can accommodate 80 persons.
According to the guide, who is a member of Youth Movement in the area,
the camp was vacated due to the intensive military clearing operations
in the area prior to the conduct of mass base operation in the complex
of Brgy. Tacpao, Plabnas and Imelda, all of Guihulngan City.
Troops continued clearing the area for other possible camp discoveries.
The continuous discovery and destruction of every camp have degraded
considerably the capability of the NPA terrorists to launch atrocities
against the local populace and extortion activities to business
establishments. #
