NPA's summary
execution victim exhumed
Government forces exhumed the remains of a missing person believed to be
abducted by the New People's Army rebels at Sitio Balite, Brgy Pag-asa,
Alabel, Sarangani province.
Elements of the 73rd Infantry Battalion under Lt Col Edgardo Y De Leon,
while conducting community outreach in the province of Sarangani,
unearthed the body of Sally Malabat Caloc, a resident of Sitio Mahayag,
Brgy Pag-asa of same municipality.
With constant dialogue and continuing interaction, the residents
cooperated and revealed that the NPAs turned local terrorists under a
certain Warren summarily executed civilians after a Kangaroo court
issued death sentence over suspicions of being government agents.
According to the victim's neighbor, Mr Nardo Goling, sometime in January
2007, the victim was abducted by armed men from their house and since
then has been missing for more than two years. It was a certain @ Gary,
a former rebel who recently surrendered to the 73rd IB, who led the Army
troopers to the gravesite, saying that he is sure of the victim's
identity because he saw how the victim has been mercilessly killed and
buried to death by the group of a certain ka Warren.
The revelation of @ Gary on the execution of Sally Malabat Caloc
confirms the early reports that innocent civilians are targets of the
NPA's summary executions.
The Philippine Army condemns the NPA's summary execution and appeals to
all stakeholders to take action and join them in order to improve the
plight of all people who have been victims of NPA atrocities. # |
