A certain Juan Gulapo a member of the Milisya Ng Bayan Pang Edukasyon/liaison/Komiteng Tig-organisa, and Samahang Partido Pangpolitika (SPP) 168 of the CPP/NPA/NDF of the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) yielded to 1Lt Jeffry Lumague of Charlie Company, 30th IB.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Erwin Rommel P Lamzon, Commanding Officer of the 30th IB that said rebel returnee was identified operating in the eastern portion of the Agusan and Surigao Provinces.

It was also learned that Gulapo surrendered to the Army bringing with him an improvised shot gun and assorted subversive documents.
"Exhausted, tired, and disillusioned of being used as a puppet and a pawn of the communists' rotten ideology," LtCol Lamzon described the sentiment of the returnee.

Gulapo was brought to the Battalion headquarters for proper debriefing and to provide him protection.

MGen Victor A Felix, Commander, 4ID, PA said, "We are happy to receive the surrenderee and rest assured that 4ID will provide assistance to help him start a new life back to the folds of the government."
