ARMY CHIEF REMINDS YOUNG LIEUTENANTS ON THE ADVOCACY FOR CREDIBLE
ELECTIONS & FULFILLING ISO DEADLINES
FORT Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila - Army Chief Lt. Gen. Reynaldo B.
Mapagu reminded newly commissioned officers on the advocacy for credible
elections and fulfilling the Internal Security Operations (ISO) as he
formally bestowed their shoulder boards with a rank of second
lieutenants at the Ricarte Hall, Philippine Army Officers' Clubhouse
today.
A total of 171 newly graduates (122 of which from the Philippine
Military Academy 'Masidlak' Class of 2010 and 49 of which from the
Officers' Candidate Course 'Kasidlakan' Class 35-2010) were in
attendance.
In his speech, the Army Chief congratulated the young lieutenants. He
also formally welcomed them as full-pledged members of the Armed Forces
as he imparted his words of wisdom.
"Strive to fulfill the expectations and standards of the institution.
Continue learning and re-learning the rudiments of military leadership.
Share your lives with your men and allow them to share their concerns
with you," Lt. Gen. Mapagu advised the young officers.
He warned them that actual operations have no rooms for mistakes and
second chances that is why they always have to be at their best
physically, mentally and emotionally.
The Army Chief reminded the young officers who will be receiving their
field assignments in the next few days of the Army's two priorities as
May 2010 election is fast approaching and these are the advocacy for
Credible Elections and fulfilling the ISO deadlines.
"We must remain non-partisan and assure the public of safe elections.
Refrain from electioneering. Let us pledge our whole-hearted commitment
to peaceful and honest elections. Let this be our covenant to the
Filipino people," Lt. Gen. Mapagu continued.
"We must never run out of focus and determination. We can do it
collectively as Team Army... Teamwork is paramount!" the Army Chief
emphasized.
In conclusion, Lt. Gen. Mapagu reminded the young officers to do their
jobs well, "Concentrate on your duties. Your duty is your utmost
priority."
PMA 'Masidlak' (Mandirigmang Sibol ng Dakilang Lahing Kayumanggi) Class
of 2010 graduated last February 23. Out of 226 graduates, 122 joined the
Army. Out of 122, 106 are males and 16 are females; 59 hails from Luzon,
15 from NCR, 15 from Visayas, and 33 from Mindanao; while the 49
graduates of OCC 'Kasidlakan' Class 35-2010 comprised of 45 males and
four females.
Also in attendance were former AFP Chief of Staff General Victor S
Ibrado and other general staff officers. #
