ARMY CELEBRATES IHL MONTH THROUGH BLOOD DONATION

The Philippine Army joins the whole country in celebrating the International Humanitarian Law Month through a Bloodletting Activity conducted at the AFP Wellness Center in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo this morning.

The Bloodletting Activity was participated in by military personnel from the three major service commands of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Army personnel joined the undertaking which was carried out in coordination with the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

This activity is being reciprocated in the different Army units nationwide.

For this year's celebration of the IHL Month, the PRC chapters nationwide are organizing various activities to highlight this year’s theme, "Towards Achieving National Solidarity: Highlighting the Role of Government and Other Stakeholders in Implementing IHL."

The Army’s participation in the conduct of humanitarian activities reinforces its commitment to uphold and respect human rights through support and adherence to the International Humanitarian Law.

Last month, the Philippine Army has also spearheaded a Bloodletting Activity dubbed as "Dugo ng Sundalo Iaalay sa Sambayanang Pilipino" with the PRC Chairman, Hon Richard Gordon. A total of 300 Army personnel from the different units and offices within the Headquarters Philippine Army donated blood. Also, about two months ago, the Army’s Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group (HHSG) initiated a one-day mass blood donation aimed at extending immediate assistance to all personnel and their relatives who might be in need of blood donations due to sickness and diseases. This activity is now being conducted every month.

This bloodletting activity, just like the other humanitarian activities initiated by the Philippine Army, is a fulfillment of its commitment to serve the Filipino better. #
