Army, PNP arrest NPA leader in Pampanga


Joint police and military efforts led to the capture of a New People's Army leader in Gapan Road , Brgy Dolores, San Fernando , Pampanga on June 15.

Reports reaching the Philippine Army headquarters from field unit disclosed that a certain Eldo Sandoval also known as Gerry Vergara/Diosdado V Remulta/Ka Tanda/Ka Eldo was apprehended by the combined elements of the Northern Luzon Command under Lt Gen Ricardo David, 7th Infantry Division under MGen Ireneo C Espino, 703rd Infantry Brigade under BGen Jose Z Mabanta Jr., and the Regional Investigation Management Division Police Regional Office 3 (RIMD PRO3).

The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Hon Maria Amifaith S Fider-Reyes, Presiding Judge Regional Trial Court Branch 42, City of San Fernando Pampanga .

Sandoval is a member of the Central Luzon Regional Committee and designated as the Secretary of the "Sangay Partido sa Platun" (SPP) Pampanga.

Recovered from Sandoval were two cell phones and a fragmentation grenade. The apprehended CT leader was presented to LtGen Reynaldo B Mapagu, Commanding General Philippine Army during his visit to the headquarters of the 703rd IB in Arayat, Pampanga before his turn-over to police authorities.

The anti-insurgency campaign, particularly in the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan, continues to gain headway. These decisive operational gains can be attributed to the unrelenting efforts of the Philippine Army in close coordination with the PNP and other stakeholders.
