Army Honors BGen Ojeda


The Philippine Army honors BGen Nicolas Dy-Liacco Ojeda Jr in a testimonial review at the Hunters ROTC Guerilla Parade Ground, Headquarters Philippine Army this afternoon.

BGen Ojeda Jr assumed the post as the Chief of the Office of Strategic and Special Policy Studies, Armed Forces of the Philippines last March 17, 2010.

A native of Naga City , Camarines Sur, BGen Ojeda Jr started his military career when he graduated from the Philippine Military Academy on 01 March 1977. His first assignment was with the 2/4 Brigade, 4th Infantry Division as Assistant S3. For over 24 years, BGen Ojeda has invested his military career in the Signal Corps. After his Engineering studies in University of the Philippines, he then became the Communications Systems Engineer of the Office of the Chief Communications - Electronics, AFP where he designed telecommunications, satellite and computer networks such as the AFP Long Lines Communication System, AFP telephone Switching Network and AFP Satellite System among others.

For over thirty years of invaluable service to the country and the people, BGen Nicolas D Ojeda Jr held several key positions. In 1994, he was designated concurrent G3 and G5 of the Communications-Electronics Service, AFP and in 1996, he commanded the 2nd Signal Long Lines Battalion and after his GSC, he served as the G1 and concurrently the Division Signal Officer of the 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. In 1999, he became the Commanding Officer of the Army Management Information Center (AMIC). He was then designated as the Chief, Plans and Programs Division, OJ11 in 2003 and later became the senior AFP Officer of the Philippine Defense Reform (PDR) Program at the Department Of National Defense where he was designated the Chief, Philippine Defense Reform (PDR) Program Integration and Evaluation Service, concurrent Chief Information Officer, Program Director for the Information Management Development and Strategic Communication Development Program.

BGen Ojeda's education reflects his competence in ICT. He is a product of the College of Engineering in UP Diliman where he took up BS Mechanical Engineering and BS Electrical Engineering. In 2003, he took up Advance Management Program at the National Defense University in Washington DC , USA where he was bestowed the DoD Chief Information Officer (CIO) Certificate. His other ICT trainings include: Digital Switching Systems Engineering Course at Nippon Telephone & Telegraph Corporation in Tokyo, Japan; INMARSAT Satellite Training of the Mobile Telesystems Inc., in Gaithersburg Maryland, USA; Computer Programming Course at the Systems Technology Institute; and Web Designing Course at the 1st Web Services, New York City, USA.

BGen Ojeda Jr is a recipient of several medals and commendations to include: three Outstanding Achievement Medals, two Command Plaque, nine Military Merit Medals, three Military Commendation Medals, Command Army Aviator's Badge, Plaque of merit, People Power II Ribbon, and campaign medals and ribbons
