31 OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM STAFF OFFICER COURSE


FORT Bonifacio, Metro Manila -  The 31 students of the Staff Officer Course (SOC) Class 03-2010 graduated yesterday, June 24, 2010, in a ceremony held at the Command General Staff College, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army with Army Chief Lt. Gen. Reynaldo B. Mapagu as the Guest of Honor. The training started on March 24, 2010 and lasted for three months.

SOC intends "to train and equip new field grade officers (Major) for assignment to staff positions at the brigade and division levels, or its equivalent, and as Branch Chiefs at the General Staff of the Philippine Army Headquarters." The course runs for 12 weeks and 6 modules are included in the duration of the training.

Out of the 31 students, Maj. Jacob Thaddeus M. Obligado was the standout, grabbing the highest award of this course, the Commanding General, Philippine Army Award (Order of General Emilio Aguinaldo). Maj. Obligado graduated number one in his class with a general average of 96.297% and with no grades lower then 85% in all events, both academic and non-academic.

Number two in SOC Class 03-2010 is Maj. Rodil C. Curiba, who was able to obtain the Commander, TRADOC Award of Excellence with his general average of 95.756%, as well as no grades lower than 85% in all events.

Meanwhile, 16 students of SOC were the recipients of the Commander, TRADOC Honor Graduate Awards which requires an average of 90% and above.

Maj. Danilo C. Calicaran acquired the Chief of Staff, TRADOC Award for Physical Proficiency for attaining the highest rating in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) with an average of 99.835% in a class of 31. #
