ARMY TAKES CUSTODY OF 9 SOLDIERS FROM TANAY, RIZAL


FORT Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila - The transfer of custody of nine officers previously detained in Tanay, Rizal was completed with their arrival in Fort Bonifacio at about 7 pm last night.

Majors Leomar Jose M. Doctolero, Jason Y. Aquino, Captains Montano B. Almontovar Jr., Isagani O. Criste, Joey Fontiveros, James C. Sababan, Dante Langkit, William Victorino F. Upano, and 1Lt. Homer A. Estolas were committed to the Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group (HHSG), Philippine Army (PA) pursuant to the authority of the AFP Chief of Staff General Delfin N. Bangit under Articles of War 70 (Arrest or Confinement).

The officers have been settled in living quarters inside camp and are undergoing in-processing. They are scheduled to undergo medical examinations this morning before reporting to Brig. Gen. Tristan M. Kison, Commander of HHSG, PA/ Camp Commander, who is their designated Custodial Officer.

BGen Kison has the responsibility for the keeping and custody of the nine officers, who are facing charges for violations of Articles of War 67 (Mutiny). He has to make sure that the officers will appear during court proceedings and hearings before the corresponding SPGCM Number 2 or as these courts may require. BGen Kison was also directed by the Army Chief Lt. Gen. Reynaldo B. Mapagu to exercise utmost diligence to secure these officers.

The officers will be Attached/ Unassigned and will not be given designations, positions, and assignments but can be utilized in non-sensitive Command and office duties. Under AW 70 (Arrest and Confinement), any person placed in arrest under the provisions of this article shall there by be restricted to his barracks, quarters or tent, unless such limits shall be enlarged by proper authority. In this case, the conditions of the custody and other restrictions will be determined by the designated Custodial Officer BGen. Kison. #
