Army hospitals receive P4.515 million financial aid from PAGCOR
FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Three Army
hospitals received millions of financial aid from the Philippine Gaming
Corporation (PAGCOR) during the 18th day of the “Pamaskong Handog 2011:
25 Days of Christmas, 25 Years of PAGCOR” event held at the Army General
Hospital yesterday, an Army official said.
Major Harold M Cabunoc, Acting Army Spokesperson, said that the
financial aid from PAGCOR amounting to P4.515 million will be used in
the purchase of equipment for three Army hospitals, including the Army
General Hospital (AGH) in Fort Bonifacio.
“It can be recalled that just last month, AGH acquired P70 million
worth of medical equipment as part of its modernization efforts. The
financial assistance extended to us by PAGCOR will be of great help to
pursue the modernization, not just of AGH, but the other station
hospitals in the country as well,” said Cabunoc.
PAGCOR’s financial assistance will be used to purchase an accelerated
Photoplethy Synograph Heart Rate machine for AGH; Ultrasound Machine for
the Kuta Major Cesar Sang-an Station Hospital in Zamboanga del Sur; and
a Defibrillator and Portable Respirator with Battery for Camp Siongco
Station Hospital in Maguindanao.
“The new hospital equipment that will be purchased will greatly
improve the delivery of health services for the Army personnel. Also,
the equipment intended for the two Army station hospitals in Mindanao
will help our Army doctors and nurses in efficiently responding to
emergency cases,” said Col Mariano Mejia, Commanding Officer of the Army
General Hospital.
The turn-over of the P4.515 million financial aid was graced by no
less than President Benigno S Aquino III. He is joined by top military
and defense officials including Defense Secretary Voltaire T Gazmin, and
Army Chief Major General Emmanuel T Bautista.
PAGCOR officials were also present during the turn-over.
Army personnel confined at AGH, most of them battle-casualty
soldiers, also enjoyed the entertainment provided by PAGCOR. An all-girl
group performed much to the delight of the soldiers present during the
activity.
PAGCOR likewise brought holiday cheers to the soldiers by
distributing Pamaskong Handog gift packs of assorted goodies.
