Army honors retiring general

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army honored retiring Brigadier General Rodel Mauro R. Alarcon, Commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group (HHSG), here on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.


Alarcon is set to retire on January 24 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56. He served in the army for 36 years, 10 months and 3 days.
Major General Robert M. Arevalo, the Army Vice Commander, presided the Testimonial and Change of Command Ceremony held at the Philippine Army Headquarters Grandstand. The activity was attended by a huge crowed composed of Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Employees of the command.
Also present during the event were a good number of retired generals, including former Commanding Generals of the Philippine Army, Alarcon’s classmates from the Philippine Military Academy “Sandiwa” Class of 1985, as well as friends and members of his family.
Prior to his post as the Commander of HHSG, he served in various units and capacities that mostly focus on operations, intelligence, and planning.
In his farewell remarks, he enjoined the troops to continue serving the country with utmost dedication and pride. He likewise expressed his profound gratitude to the Philippine Army that served as his family after more than 30 years.#
