MGEN BYRON HONTORIA CALIMAG is the 29th Commander of the Army Support Command, Philippine Army. Its mission is to provide Combat Service Support to all Philippine Army Units.

    The third child in a family of twelve, MGEN CALIMAG was born in Quezon City on February 22, 1964. He graduated from Comembo Elementary School in 1977 and completed his secondary education at the Cagayan State University, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan in 1981. And then he passed the qualifying examination at the Philippine Military Academy.

    MGEN CALIMAG graduated from PMA in 1985 and was eventually assigned with the Philippine Army. From 1986 to 1988, MGEN CALIMAG served combat duty in Mindanao with the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division as Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Responsible Supply Officer and Acting Commanding Officer of the 25th Infantry Battalion respectively. He was later assigned with the 69th Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division based in Luzon as Battalion S2 and S3. After which, MGEN CALIMAG, was designated as Aide-de-Camp to the Vice President of the Philippines on 01 February 1989 t0 30 January 1991. Department Head of the University of the Philippines ROTC in NCRRCDG, ARESCOM, Head Academic Group and also Commandant in Combat Service Support School, TRADOC, PA, Commanding Officer, Service Support Battalion in 8th Infantry Division based in Visayas, Assistant Chief of Unified Staff for Logistics, U4 in EASTMINCOM and SOLCOM, Director, in Research and Development Center, Army Support Command, Inspector General, Army Support Command, and Assistant Chief, Armed Forces of the Philippines Procurement Service.

    MGEN CALIMAG is a graduate of various career and military schooling both local and foreign such as Scout Ranger Orientation Course, Basic Airborne Course, AFP Comptrollership Basic Course and Tactical Intelligence Officer Course. In 1992, he finished on top in Quartermaster Officer Basic Course at the Combat Service Support School, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army. Again he finished on top in Ammo General Supply cross-trained-with Explosives and Ordnance Disposal at Ordnance and Chemical School, TRADOC, Philippine Army. He obtained his Master’s degree in Corporate Governance and Risk Management at the Ateneo De Manila University, Metro Manila. He took his Logistics Officer Advance Course at ALMC, Fort Lee Virginia, USA and Command and General Staff Course at the Command and General Staff College, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City

    As a testament to his exemplary performance of duty, he garnered several military awards and commendations. The highlights of these are two (2) Distinguished Service Stars. Several Military Merit Medals (MMM), Military Commendation Medals (MCM) and Military Civic Action Medals (MCAM) and he also received a Silver Wing Medal, Sagisag Ng Ulirang Kawal, Gawad sa Kaunlaran, CG, PA Award (Order of General Emilio Aguinaldo), Physical Proficiency Award and among other badges and awards. He also a recipient of Outstanding Achievement Medal, Letters of Commendations, Certificates and Plaques of Appreciation both from military and civilian sectors.

    MGEN CALIMAG is happily married to Elvira Romanban Calimag of Quezon City. Their union is blessed with a loving daughter – Bryanna Niña R Calimag.

    To date, MAJOR GENERAL CALIMAG has rendered a total of thirty nine (39) years in the active service and is set to retire on 22 February 2020.
