CGPA lauds 81st IB troops’ neutralization of NPA leaders

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Gilbert I. Gapay lauds 81st Infantry Battalion’s successful neutralization of three ranking New People’s Army (NPA) personalities on Feb. 13. 2020, in Brgy. Namatican, Sta Lucia, Ilocos Sur.

The 81st IB tropos worked closely with the Military Intelligence Company and the 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company in conducting intensive intelligence operations that eventually led in the identification and whereabouts of the enemies.

Neutralized NPA leaders were Julius Zamora Marquez, Secretary; Iniebel Marquez Balonos, Deputy Secretary; and Ma. Finela Cavero Mejia, Political Guide, of the Kilusang Larangang Guerilla, South Ilocos Sur. They were discovered responsible in distributing extortion letters that threatens small businesses and innocent families.

Two caliber 45 pistols and one fragmentation grenade were also recovered after the encounter.
