Asian Development Bank, DSWD, LGUs and Philippine Army team up for relief operations

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Asian Development Bank, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Metro Manila local government units, and the Philippine Army, have begun their coordinated relief operation here on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

The ADB has donated 250 Million worth of food supplies to be received by target beneficiaries within the National Capital Region identified by the DSWD and the LGUs.

In support of this initiative, the Army has transported 2,000 sacks of rice yesterday March 31 and was received by DSWD representatives of the Cities of Pasay, Manila, Caloocan and Quezon City.

The Army has also started the collection and repacking of goods and has designated 10 military trucks from the Army Support Command for this relief effort. The Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group Personnel, Civil Military Operations Regiment Personnel, Reservist and civilian volunteer groups will initially handle the 3 to 4 days of repacking at the HPA grandstand. Civilian volunteers will receive “food for work” as daily allowance from the DSWD. The Civil Military Operations Regiment will distribute the relief packs starting tomorrow, April 2.

A total of 50,000 packs, composed of 10 kilograms of rice and 10 canned goods, are targeted to be produced from the 250 Million donation.
