Philippine Army repacks ADB donated relief goods for COVID-19 operations

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army officially distributed 6,000 family food packs (FFP) from the Asian Development Bank donations today, April 4, 2020 at Brgy Hulong Duhat, Malabon City.

Six thousand families from Barangay Hulong Duhat, Malabon City will be the initial beneficiaries of the 250 Million worth of food donations of ADB that aims to aid households during the implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine. Barangay Chairman Anthony Velasquez also extended his gratitude to ADB, Philippine Army, and DSWD, stating that it was the largest amount of donation they’ve received so far. Having 10 Sitios, Barangay Hulong Duhat has 14,000 population.

Through the Army Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group and Army Civil-Military Operations Regiment, a total of 50,000 food packs are targeted to be repacked and delivered to target communities in Metro Manila in coordination with the DSWD. The Army Support Command has also committed 17 military trucks for the immediate distribution of relief items.

“The Philippine Army is continuously doing its COVID-19 response by closely coordinating with our stakeholders and having our capabilities available so that the needs of the people are delivered to them as soon as possible,” Lieutenant General Gilbert I Gapay, Commanding General, Philippine Army said.#
