Army welcomes visit of ADB vice president

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – The Philippine Army Vice Commander received the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice President as he visited the Army’s COVID-19 relief operations here today, May 8, 2020.

Maj. Gen. Reynaldo M. Aquino accompanied ADB Vice President Mr. Ahmead Saeed as the latter checked on the Army’s repacking operations at the Army Headquarters Grandstand. They then proceeded to Barangay Sta. Ana, Pateros to witness the distribution of the Family Food Packs (FFPs).

The Philippine Army in partnership with the ADB, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and other Local Government Units aims to produce and deliver 50,000 FFPs from the ADB’s P250 Million worth of food donation. The initiative will provide indigent households in the National Capital Region with basic food assistance during the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine. Each FFPs includes 10 kilograms of rice, around 50 assorted canned goods, and 20 sachets of milk and coffee. Since early April, a total of 127,873 food packs have already been distributed to various households in Metro Manila.

“We are grateful to our partners in the private and government sectors for making this initiative possible. For our part, we will make sure that the products of these initiatives will reach the intended beneficiaries without unnecessary delay," said Aquino.#
